The Pottstown In Focus Short Film Festival Committee will accept film entries beginning May 1, 2017, and submissions will conclude on September 29, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. EST.

Entries:

Each entrant may be an individual or group, but a Director as Chief Point of Contact must be listed as the official entrant. Participants may enter only one submission per category in the following categories:

  • Fiction
  • Documentary/Historical Subject
  • Science Fiction
  • Comedy/Satire
  • Music Video

In order to enter a film in the Pottstown In Focus Short Film Festival, ("PIFSFF") you must agree to the Filmmaker Agreement, ("Filmmaker Agreement") between you ("Filmmaker") and the Pottstown Parks and Recreation Foundation, Inc. ("PPRF"). The Filmmaker Agreement is a legally binding contract.

By clicking the "I Accept" button below, Filmmaker indicates that Filmmaker has read the Filmmaker Agreement, understands it, and agrees to be bound by its terms and conditions. Filmmaker cannot enter an assignment unless Filmmaker agrees to this agreement.

For good and valuable consideration, including the possibility of publicity, the receipt and sufficiency of which is hereby acknowledged, Filmmaker hereby agrees as follows:

The Pottstown Parks and Recreation Foundation, Inc. ("PPRF") is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization serving the Borough of Pottstown. The Pottstown In Focus Short Film Festival, ("PIFSFF") is a Pottstown Parks and Recreation Foundation Inc. managed event. The Pottstown In Focus Short Film Festival Committee serves at the chief organizer of the event. The Pottstown Parks and Recreation Foundation, Inc. is conducting business as, Pottstown In Focus Short Film Festival. For purpose of this agreement, anytime the Pottstown Park and Recreation Foundation, Inc., (PPRF) is used, it shall mean the Pottstown Park and Recreation Foundation Board, its Directors, officers, employees, agents and/or consultants.

Rules

  • Individual entries cannot be submitted to multiple categories.

  • Multiple entries per filmmaker are encouraged. Entrant must fill a separate form for each entry.

  • Please designate one submission per participant for consideration for this year’s special award “A Love Letter to Pottstown.”  In order to be eligible to win the “A Love Letter to Pottstown” entries should focus on Pottstown as the primary subject and theme, highlighting the struggles, triumphs, passions, heartbreaks, and beauty of our people and the community landscapes.   Please explore the links below for more information on our home.

  • If your entry has completed significant filming in the Borough of Pottstown or the greater Pottstown Region, please designate the submission for consideration for this year's special award "Pottstown On Location."  In order to be eligible to win the "Pottstown On Location," a significant portion of filming must be done on location in one or more of the following locations: Borough of Pottstown, West Pottsgrove Township, Lower Pottsgrove Township, Upper Pottsgrove Township, Douglas Township Montgomery County, North Coventry Township, New Hanover Township, and East Coventry Township.  

     Entries most-likely to receive this award will feature unique and/or recognizable landmarks from the filming location, engaging local landmarks, geography, and conditions physically and/or thematically.  To learn more about the region please visit our partners:

  • Submissions must be provided in the form below as a link to a video uploaded and hosted externally through a site such as YouTube or Vimeo.

  • Submissions may be up to 30 minutes in length.

  • Entrants must accept these rules and regulations to be considered as an entrant.

  • If your entry is chosen to be screened at one of our events, you will be asked to upload a digital copy to our Dropbox account as a MP4 or QuickTime movie.

Eligibility:

  • You must be at least 13 years of age to participate. Entrants under 18 years of age require parental consent.   Any entry submitted by someone under 18 without parental consent or a fraudulently submitted consent shall be disqualified as an entrant.  


Representations and Warranties:

Filmmaker represents and warrants to the PPRF, as follows:

  • The film does not contain subliminal meanings

  • The film does not contain pornographic material;

  • The film does not contain any information or instruction that might be injurious to anyone’s physical well – being
    .
  • The film does not, and the reproduction, distribution, public performance, public display, and or any other use of the film in any and all media throughout the world will not, defame, infringe, or violate any right, (including but not limited to the copyrights, privacy rights, and publicity rights) of any person or entity;

  • Filmmaker has obtained all necessary and required executed releases in connection with the film, including but not limited to photographic releases, location releases, photo releases and/or talent releases.

  • The film does not depict any form of discrimination or hate speech based upon race, color, sex, disability, or familial status.

  • All persons engaged to work on the film and/or appear in the film (a) have no payment claims against the Pottstown Parks and Recreation Foundation, Inc., (b) have no rights of consultation or approval; and (c) are not parties to or have been engaged pursuant to any union or guild agreement; and The Film has not been screen theatrically or commercially.

Indemnification:

Filmmaker shall indemnify, hold harmless, and defend PPRF and all of their respective, current and former officers, directors, members, shareholders, agents, and employees, and consultants (the “Indemnified Parties”) from any and all Claims. “Claim”: means any action, cause of action, suit, proceeding, claim, or demand of any third party (and all resulting judgments, bona fide settlements, penalties, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses, (including without limitation reasonable attorney’s fees and costs), which is related to, arises out of, or in connection with: (a) Filmmaker’s breach of this Filmmaker Agreement;  (b) any assertion that the film infringes the intellectual property or other proprietary rights of any party; (c) use of Filmmaker’s name, portrait, appearance,  likeness, or biographical information, including without limitation any liability for misrepresentation or defamation. PPPF may, at its expense, employ separate counsel to monitor and participate in the defense of any Claim. PPRF will provide Filmmaker with reasonably prompt notice in writing of any Claim.

Awards:

  • Awards will be given to the top 2 scoring submissions in each category.  

  • Awards will be given for the following: Best Picture, Best Submission by entrant 18 and under.

  • Special Awards will be given for the 2017 Pottstown [In Focus] Short Film Festival theme, “A Love Letter to Pottstown” and "Pottstown on Location"  The winning creator is responsible for any and all taxes on the awards.



Judging: 

A panel of esteemed judges has been established by PRPF, who will evaluate the films based on adherence to theme, storytelling/messaging, video quality, sound quality and editing. Judges will be selected by PPRF, and may be replaced at any time at the discretion of PPRF.  The decision of the Judges shall be final.  In addition, PPRF shall have the ability to disqualify any Filmmaker if PPRF has reason to believe that Filmmaker is in violation of this Agreement or has provided any false or inaccurate information to PPRF.

Notification of Winners:

Winners will be notified by phone, email, or mail by October 23, 2017.


Miscellaneous:

Filmmaker hereby irrevocably waives any right to seek or obtain an injunction, rescission or termination of this Filmmaker Agreement or any rights hereunder, or any other form of equitable relief against the indemnified Parties related to the Pottstown In Focus Short Film Festival. Filmmaker’s sole remedy with respect thereto is to bring an action at law for damages, (if any). Filmmaker agrees that no joint venture, partnership, employment, or agency relationship exists between Filmmaker and PPRF as a result of this Filmmaker Agreement or use of the PPRF website or any information. Software, products, or services obtained through the PPRF website. This Filmmaker Agreement will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as such laws apply to contracts performed within Pennsylvania by its residents and the parties hereby consent to the jurisdiction of the federal, state, and county courts. This Filmmaker Agreement will be binding upon and will to the benefit of each party’s successors, heirs, and assigns. This Filmmaker Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between the parties with respect to the subject matter hereof and merges all prior and contemporaneous communications and proposals, whether electronic, oral, or written, between the parties with respect to such subject matter. This Filmmaker Agreement cannot be modified except by a written amendment signed by both parties.


Permissions for PPRF Use:

PPRF reserves the right to use any or all of the content submitted for our own promotional use of the PIFSFF event, but shall not have the right to extend the use of said individual intellectual property to another person or entity, or to use said intellectual property individually and not as a part of the collection of all entries for the purposes of generating a profit. The individual or filmmaker has full rights for future use of their film.
